Old El Paso tacos are something I personally hold near and dear to my heart as a great and crunchy meal! Healthy? I'm not too sure of that, but man, tacos are tasty, and the bite? It's what you make of it and Old El Paso gives you all of the sauces to do so! The product is very identifiable, with its warm yellow box and red tile roof smacking of a distant Texas & Mexico destination you can only dream about.
When you make tacos at home it's a far better product then any fast-food taco eatery. (Taco Smell ring a bell?!?) Why? Because you control the quality of the ingredients. Not only that, what you make will stretch so much more than a one stop meal. Just think of it, taco night multiple times throughout the week instead of one night! Just make sure you have more than enough shells ;)

Getting my skillet out, I crumble the raw hamburger into it. I like to use 80% lean 20% fat ground chuck simply because a taco needs a tad bit of beef grease in the meat. Of course, you will drain the meat after cooking, but the meat will still retain some fat and fat means flavor! If you desire to lean it up a bit, go halves with the 80% Lean 20% fat ground chuck with 90% lean 10% fat beef sirloin. Follow the instructions on the packet after browning and draining the meat. One 1Oz pack of seasoning goes into 1LB of ground beef.

There are a couple schools of thought regarding refried beans. Some people don't like them. Some like them prepared on the side. I like putting the beans right into the already cooked & seasoned taco meat, which makes the meat/bean mixture have a pastier mixture like a beef & bean burrito would have, but guess what? It makes your meat mixture go that much further!

Now that your meat is prepped, it's time for the creative side of Old El Paso tacos: the toppings! You can add whatever you like to your tacos. This is what I add. I like to save time with the lettuce, buying already shredded bags.

Go for the bigger shells. The smaller one are great too, but I find as I start stuffing them, I run out of room real quick:(

Flour tortillas and pockets are great carriers for burritos and enchiladas. Bowls are just what you need for an open taco, but I was kind of eyeballing those pockets for Fajitas. I bet they would work very well, because part of the problem with Fajitas is that the tortilla comes apart, losing its contents. Added are some items for Fajitas.
